Household Chemicals Damaging Baby Boys
According to Professor Richard Sharpe of the Medical Research Council, many chemicals found in common household products are causing deformities in unborn male babies which can lead to cancer and infertility later in these male children’s lives. These ‘gender-bending’ chemicals, as they are known, block the production of testosterone in the baby’s body and instead mimic the female sex hormone of oestrogen. Professor Sharpe says these chemicals are in essence “feminizing” male babies in the womb. Some of the chemicals known to disrupt the sex hormones are Phthalates, found in vinyl flooring, plastic, soap, and toothpaste, and pesticides.
