Goji Juice and Female Fertility

Goji juice is juice collected from a fruit that's commercially known as the goji berry. It's also known as the wolfberry, mede berry, bocksdorn, Murali, matrimony vine, Duke of Argyll's tea tree and the barbary. It comes from a plant that belongs to the boxthorn plant family which also includes eggplants, tomatoes, tobacco and potatoes. The berry naturally grows in the upper parts of the Himalayas in China.

Nutrient Content of Goji Juice

Goji berries contain many nutrients and phytochemicals including six essential vitamins, eight polysaccharides, six monosaccharides, 22 trace dietary minerals, 11 essential vitamins, 18 amino acids, 5 carotenoids and five unsaturated fatty acids. The berry contains zinc, potassium, calcium, vitamin C, riboflavin, iron and selenium.

Goji berry juice has been used in skin soap, yogurt products, in pulp powders, in juice concentrate and fruit puree as well as an additive for manufacturing.

Goji Connection to Male Fertility

Some doctors suggest that men wear boxers to prevent the sperm from becoming overheated in the seminiferous tubules in the testicles. Heat reduces sperm production and can sometimes even affect the quality of sperm. Some scientific studies show juice from a goji berry acts as an antioxidant that cuts down on the free radical production that can cause lower sperm production. It basically helped reverse the effects that overheating had on sperm production ultimately increasing sperm count and vitality.

How It Helps Women

More studies have been done on the goji berry in relation to male fertility, but there are some studies that suggest that it can improve female fertility as well. Reports from the US National Library of Medicine and National Institutes of Health say juice from the berry can reduce fatigue. Being tired doesn't make a woman infertile, but fatigue can reduce a woman's desire for intercourse. It can also make the body less able to handle a pregnancy. Although this link between the goji berry and female fertility isn't a direct link, it is relevant.

The Beijing Medical University conducted a study that showed the connection between the goji berry and high blood pressure. Once again, this isn't directly related to fertility, but it can help create a healthier pregnancy with a higher chance of a healthy full-term baby at the end of the three months. High blood pressure during pregnancy can cause hypertension and preeclampsia which is bad for the woman's health and can cause higher infant mortality and a higher likelihood of premature birth.

There are numerous studies connecting the antioxidants in goji juice with anti-aging attributes. It helps the overall health of a woman which ultimately helps increase a woman's fertility. Some studies suggest that the berry juice can even delay menopause increasing the chances of pregnancy.
